South Dakota Winter - Its Impact on the Pheasants

Many hunters have been asking, "How's the winter going, how's the bird population?" In South Dakota winter can be hard on the wild pheasant population, and can reduce numbers dramatically. I can't speak for the entire state, but the winter here in Kennebec and at Shooters Hunting Lodge has been pretty mild. We have had some of those bitterly cold days, but no ice storms or heavy snows that kill off the pheasants. So, from the looks of it, once again, we should have a large population of wild birds. Your hunting dogs will go crazy! So, if you are looking to come to South Dakota for some pheasant hunting, give us a call at Shooters Hunting Lodge, and we'll fix you up.
